1 -According to the great epic Ramayana, God Rama stayed here with his consort Sita and younger brother Lakshman for 11 years out of the 14 years of his exile. Some of the famous sages like Dattatreya, Sarbhanga, Markandeya, Atri and many other soothsayers, pilgrims and philosophers have carried out meditation here. The triad of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh embodied the great sage Dattatreya also revered as 'Lord Dattatreya' for the triad in one body.

Also known as 'Hills of Many Wonders', different scriptures of ancient times have recounted the rich holiness of this pious place in a beautiful way. Valmiki addresses Chitrakoot in shining words as a great devout destination colonized by the great philosophers and many other sorts of plants and wildlife creatures. The celebrated poet Kalidas has depicted this amiable place in his epic Raghuvanshi. Not only these, several other Sanskrit and Hindi writers have paid homage to this holy town.

1 -Kamadgiri

                                           

Kamadgiri is a forested hill with the base surrounded by multiple Hindu temples on all sides and is considered to be the heartof Chitrakoot. The name is derived from Kamadnathji, another name of Lord Rama and it meant fulfiller of all wishes.

2 -Gupt Godavari

Gupt Godavari has a pair of caves, one of them with a very tiny entrance through which one can barely passand the other with stream of water flowing inside.

 

3 -Ramghat

                                                             

Mandakini river is lined up by ghats called Ramghat. Ramghat is where lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman appeared in frontof the famous poet Tulsidas and he used to sit on the river side and write Ram Charitra Manas

 

4 -Hanuman Dhara

                                                           

There is a stream of water falling upon the deity of lord Hanuman releasing in a kund and there are langoorsin this area which are well associated with Hanuman, the monkey God.Hanuman Dhara is  the name of thespring which sprouted from a rock when Lord Ram shot an arrow into it to calm down an enraged Hanumanwhen he came to this place to extinguish the fire that was caught in his tail  after he returned from burning Lanka.

 

5 -Sphatik Shila

                                                             

Sphatik Shila is a place with two massive rocks which are believed to have the footprints of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.Sphatik Shila literally means crystal rock and is located amidst dense            forests, close to Janki Kund on the banks of riverMandakini.It is said that Sita and Rama were relaxing here and a crow pecked the feet of goddess Sita which agitated lordRama and he took off the    eyes of the crow, however the crow was actually a form of Jayant, son of Lord Indra.

 

6 -Sati Anusuya temple

                                                             

The story of Anusuya says that she sprinkled some special water over the holy trinity Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwarand this led to their incarnations.Also it is said that Anusuya offered sincere          dedication to praise the god to end famine and thus the town wasblessed with the river Mandakini.

 

 

 

Prayagraj

1 -Triveni Sangam

                                                             

The most important tourist destination in Allahabad, the Triveni Sangam is the confluence of the 3 major rivers of India namely Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati. The three rivers maintain their           visible identity and can be identified by their different colors.the waterfrom the Ganges is clear while the Yamuna is greenissh in color while presence of Sarswati can only be felt underwater . The         place is considered as one of the major sites of the Kumbhamela which is held once in every 12 years.

 

2 -Anand Bhavan

                                                             

The Anand Bhavan is a historic house museum in Allahabad,It was constructed in the 1930’s by the Indian leaderMotilal Nehru as the Nehru Family residence. The building was constructed as the      former residence of the Nehru Family knownas the Swaraj Bhavan was donated to the Indian National Congress. The building was donated to the Indian Government byIndira Gandhi in 1970 and is    today a house museum that depicts the life and times of the Nehru family. It also housesthe Jawahar Planetarium which was built in 1979 and is a must visit.

3 -Khusro Bagh

                                                             

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Allahabad, Khusro Bagh was built by King Jahangir for his son Khusro.The tombstone of the prince lies in this garden along with that of his mother          Shah  Begum

 

4 -Allahabad Fort

                                                             

Allahabad Fort is a fort built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh in 1583. The fort stands on thebanks of the Yamuna near its confluence with the river Ganges. It is recognised    by the Archaeological Survey of Indiaas a monument of national importance.

5 - Bade Hanuman Mandir

                                                           

Colloquially known as Bade Hanuman Mandir, Hanuman Temple is located at Sangam area of Allahabad.The temple is possibly the only one of its kind for it is constructed under the ground and the    posture of Lord Hanumanis in a leaning back position. The shrine is a popular pilgrim spot in the city and stays especially busy on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

 

6 -Alopibagh

                                                           

Located at Alopibagh, near the holy sangam (confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati) in Allahabad,Alopi Devi Mandir is an atypical temple revered by the Hindus. The temple is unique in the      sense that it does not have anypresiding deity but a wooden chariot •doliê which is mostly worshipped by the devotees of Lord Shiva.
