Description

1 -Allahabad, officially known as Prayagraj, and also known as Illahabad and Prayag, is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

It is the administrative headquarters of Allahabad district—the most populous district in the state and 13th most populous

district in India.

 

 

2 -Sitamarhi temple is located in Bhadohi district. This temple is situated on the banks of Ganga river and 11 km from

Jangiganj Bazar in the middle of Allahabad and Varanasi. It is believed that at this place Mother Sita had absorbed herself in the earth.

Here is the 110 feet high statue of Hanuman ji, which has the distinction of being the world’s greatest statue of the Hanuman ji.

 

3 -Vindhyachal is a city in Mirzapur District of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is a Hindu pilgrimage site having the temple of Vindhyavasini, who according to Markandeya Purana had incarnated to kill the demon Mahishasura. The detailed description has been given in 'Durga Saptashati' Chapter of Markandeya Purana. The river Ganga flows through this city. The Indian Standard Time (IST) line passes through the Vindhyachal railway station.

Vindhyachal 70 km. (one and a half hour drive) from Varanasi, is a renowned religious city dedicated to Goddess Vindhyavasini. Goddess Vindhyavasini is believed to be the instant bestower of benediction. Vindhyavasini Devi Temple is situated 8 km from Mirzapur, on the banks of the holy river Ganga. It is one of the most revered Siddhapeeths of the presiding deity, Vindhyavasini Devi. The temple is visited by large number of people daily. Big congregations are held during Navratras in Chaitra (April) and Ashwin (October) months. Kajali competitions are held in the month of Jyestha (June). The temple is situated just 2 km from the Kali Khoh.

1 -Maa Vindhyavasini Devi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga.

 2 -Kali khoh temple, in form of ancient cave dedicated to Goddess Maha Kali (6 km from Vindhyavasini temple) Here, the deity represents to incarnation of Hindu Goddess Durga, for killing demon Raktabeeja.

3 -Ashtabhuja temple, dedicated to Goddess Maha Saraswati (on a hillock, 2 km from Vindhyavasini temple) It is believed, that Ashtabhuja was sister of Krishna, who came here, after relieving herself from the grip of demon Kansa, who wanted to kill her, just after her birth to Vasudeva and Devaki.

 

       

1 -Triveni Sangam

                         

The most important tourist destination in Allahabad, the Triveni Sangam is the confluence of the 3 major rivers of India

namely GangesYamuna and Saraswati. The three rivers maintain their visible identity and can be identified by their different colors.the water from

the Ganges is clear while the Yamuna is greenissh in color while presence of Sarswati can only be felt underwater . The place is considered as one

of the major sites of the Kumbhamela which is held once in every 12 years.

2 -Anand Bhavan

The Anand Bhavan is a historic house museum in Allahabad,It was constructed in the 1930’s by the Indian leader

Motilal Nehru as the Nehru Family residence. The building was constructed as the former residence of the Nehru Family known

as the Swaraj Bhavan was donated to the Indian National Congress. The building was donated to the Indian Government by

Indira Gandhi in 1970 and is today a house museum that depicts the life and times of the Nehru family. It also houses

the Jawahar Planetarium which was built in 1979 and is a must visit.

3 -Khusro Bagh

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Allahabad, Khusro Bagh was built by King Jahangir for his son Khusro.

The tombstone of the prince lies in this garden along with that of his mother Shah Begum

 

 

4 -Allahabad Fort

Allahabad Fort is a fort built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh in 1583. The fort stands on the

banks of the Yamuna near its confluence with the river Ganges. It is recognised by the Archaeological Survey of India

as a monument of national importance.

 

5 - Bade Hanuman Mandir

Colloquially known as Bade Hanuman Mandir, Hanuman Temple is located at Sangam area of Allahabad.

The temple is possibly the only one of its kind for it is constructed under the ground and the posture of Lord Hanuman

is in a leaning back position. The shrine is a popular pilgrim spot in the city and stays especially busy on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

 

6 -Alopibagh

Located at Alopibagh, near the holy sangam (confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati) in Allahabad,

Alopi Devi Mandir is an atypical temple revered by the Hindus. The temple is unique in the sense that it does not have any

presiding deity but a wooden chariot •doliê which is mostly worshipped by the devotees of Lord Shiva.
