Itineraries

1 -  Gaya and Bodhgaya

 

                   

AFTER RECEIVING WE WILL DO THE SIGHTSEEING OF GAYA AND BODH GAYA WHICH INCLUDES MAHABODHI TEMPLE, GREAT BUDDHA STATUE, BODHI TREE, BRAHMAYONI TEMPLE AND VISHNU PAD TEMPLE. AFTER THAT TRANSFER TO RAJGIR FOR OVERNIGHT STAY.On the first day after picking you up we will start the S/S with Mahabodhi Templewhich serves to be the main and most important attraction in Bodh Gaya.It was built in the 7th century, surrounding the Bodhi Tree. Then The Bodhi Tree whereLord Buddha meditated to attain enlightenment.

 

                                                             

The Great Buddha statue which wasinstaled by the XIV Dalai Lama in 1989. It is a meditating Buddha resting on a giant lotus.After that we will go to the Brahmayoni Temple. Devotees who wish to visit this templemust go through a grueling climb of 424 high stone steps to reach the top of the hill,and lastly the Vishnu Pad Temple. As the name suggests, this temple was built as adedication to Lord Vishnu and features a 40 cm long footprint of Lord Vishnu that is enclosedby a basin made of silver plates. Now we will be transferred to Rajgir for overnight stay.

 

 2 –Rajgir Nalanda Pawapuri

                               

                               

ON THE SECOND DAY WE WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO RAJGIR BUT BEFORE THAT WE WILLGO TO THE NALANDA UNIVERSITY AND PAWAPURI FOR THE WHOLE DAY AND WILL BE BACKIN RAJGIR FOR OVERNIGHT STAY.On this day after the breakfast, we will be going to Nalanda University in Nalandawhich is an Archaeological Complex and is the excavated site of the ancient university.It is spread over an area of 14 hectares and is a major place of tourist attraction.The university complex had red brick buildings hemmed by gardens. You can spend mostof your time here exploring the one of the most ancient university.

 

                                                             

After that we will go toPawapuri, a holy pilgrimage for Jains, Pawapuri is an important destination located in theNalanda district. It’s history dates back more than 2600 years ago and is famous for beingthe burial site for Lord Mahavira. After this we will come back to Rajgir for night halt.

 

 

3 –Rajgir

 

                               

ON THIS DAY WE WILL COVER THE HALF S/S OF RAJGIR WHICH INCLUDES VENUVANA ,JAPANESE STUPA (RAJGIR ROPEWAY) , GRIDDHAKUTA, BIMBISAR’S JAIL, CYCLOPEANWALLS, SONABHANDAR (SAPTAPARNI CAVES) AND MANIAR MATTH. OVERNIGHT STAY.On the 3rd day we will start our journey in the history going to places like Venuvana whereKing Bimbisara donated the Bamboo Grove to Buddha for his residence. Today, it is a park withadmiring sights of bamboos, flowers and a large pond with Buddha's image in the centre, next isJapanese Stupa. Also known as the Vishwa Shanti Stupa, this pillar is situated at the top of theGridhakuta Hill at an altitude of 400m. You can go here via ropeway which is a must,

 

                                                           

Griddhakuta which  is a popular sightseeing location perched at an altitude of 400 m.It is also known as the Vulture's Peak as it is shaped like a vulture and also provides frequentsightings of the bird. It is said to be the place where Lord Buddha resided for many years.Bimbisar’s Jail is believed to be the place where Bimbisara was confined by his sonKing Ajatshatru. Bimbisara Jail offers a brilliant view of the Japanese Stupa situated onthe same hill. Cyclopean wall- Dating back to 2500 years ago, the Cyclopean walls are4 meters wide and encircle the city, being 40 km long. Now to Sonbhandar also known assaptaparni caves is situated on the southern slopes of the Vaibhava Hills and feature blackstone statues of the first four Jain Tirthankaras and Lord Buddha and lastly the Maniar Mathwhich was once a monastery of a cult that worshipped snakes. This can be seen                                                               by the figuresof different snakes that are found here. Overnight stay in Rajgir.

 

4 –Rajgir and Gaya

 

ON THE LAST DAY WE WILL VISIT THE REMAINING PLACES IN RAJGIR WHICH INCLUDESKUNDALPUR, TAPODHARMA OR THE LAKSHMI NARAYAN MANDIR, CHARIOT TRACKS, RAJGIRHOT SPRINGS, STUPA OF SARIPUTRA, AJATSHATRU FORT AND LASTLY JARASHANDH KA AKHARA. TRANSFER TO GAYA FOR FAREWELL.On this last day of the tour, after the breakfast, we will start our S/S with Kundalpur located justoutside Nalanda. Kundalpur is the place which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Mahavira,the 24th and last of Jain Thirthankaras. Tapodharma- An ancient Buddhist monastery was oncepresent at Tapodharma. The Lakshmi Narayan Mandir has been built here now.There are a few hot springs found at the place and it is believed that these hot watersprings have curative properties. Now to The Chariot Tracks which feature two parallelfurrows cut into the rocks and are believed to have been made by Lord Krishna's chariot.

 

                                                             

Rajgir city is famous for the seven hot springs or Saptarshi, which come and mingletogether into a big pool of warm water, named Brahmakund. This is a holy place forbathing of the Hindus, Buddhists and Jains alike. The Stupa of Sariputra contains thebones of one of the two chief disciples of Gautam Buddha. Sariputra became a celebratedArhat after he was able to attain salvation following Buddha's footsteps. Ajatshatru’s Fort-Ajatshatru was a king and the ruler of the Magadha's in 6th Century B.C who built this grandfort. And lastly the Akhara of Jarasandh, located near the Vaibhava Hill, was previously awrestling arena and place for martial arts training for the armies which stood againstLord Krishna and the Pandava, for King Jarasandha of Magadha. The great battle between Bheemaand Jarasandha took place right here. At last we will transfer you to Gaya for departure and farewell.
